coffee from Brazil
Sul de Minas is the largest Arabica coffee producing region in Brazil. It has altitudes between 850m and 1,250m and average annual temperature between 22 and 24°C. The most cultivated varieties in this place are Catuaí and Mundo Novo, but there are also crops of the Icatú, Obatã and Catuaí Rubi varieties. Interestingly, this region is the largest coffee producer in the world! There, the largest number of coffee trees planted per square meter is concentrated. Its high altitude and annual average temperature facilitate the production of full-bodied coffees, with slightly acidic citric flavors and fruity aromas.
The city of Poços de Caldas was built on the crater of an extinct volcano (which will probably never erupt), but this peculiarity provides an excellent terroir for coffee growing. In this area we find a lot of coffee of the Yellow Bourbon variety, in addition to also finding a good amount of Fox Bean (green coffee bean wrapped in a super sweet brown film), very common in the mountains of the region.
Most cultivated coffee varieties: Predominance of Catuaí and Mundo Novo, but there is also a strong presence of Icatú, Obatã and Catuaí Rubi.
